Skirts: All skirts are subject to the following rules:
When standing still, NO part of the leg should be shown more than 4inches or 10cm above the centre of the knee. This is measured from the middle of the knee vertically to the hem of the skirt, at all angles. Fringing, lace and seethrough/ flesh-coloured material is not included in the measurement.
Could all dancers please note within the CWDC rules, that fringing will not be included in measuring the length of a dance skirt therefore, anyone with a fringed type skirt should look to modify this. Most dressmakers are now aware of this and would be able to fit an under skirt onto a current skirt of this type.
Please be aware that on the 5th of June a change was made to the CWDC rule book for 2009 /2010. An updated version of these rules may be downloaded here.
The modification to the rule book is a clarification in response to questions from competitors regarding strap size. The modification to the rule reads as follows..
"Strapless tops or straps responsible for holding a dress/top up that are less than 1 inch or 2.5cm wide are not allowed".
